Public health nursing plays a major role in infectious disease surveillance and investigation. We partner with State of Alaska Epidemiology through local public health nursing case investigations of tuberculosis, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), foodborne illnesses and other reportable diseases such as giardiasis.

In addition to seeing clients in the health center, Juneau Public Health Nursing works with the City and Bureau of Juneau to provide services at three local high schools. The Teen Health Clinics are open once a week for students who are interested in visiting the Public Health Nurse.
